Why Equine
Facilitated Therapy?
At Karele, we offer one-on-one equine-assisted therapy sessions tailored to each participant’s needs. Working closely with a horse and a trained facilitator, individuals develop confidence, emotional wellbeing, and essential horsemanship skills. From grooming and handling to guided riding and countryside walks, every session provides a safe, supportive space for learning, reflection, and personal growth

Who is equine therapy for?
Horses naturally read body language and respond with gentle connection, lowering stress (by reducing cortisol) and boosting wellbeing (by increasing serotonin). Equine assisted therapy supports children and young people of all abilities and backgrounds. It helps build confidence, wellbeing, and positive connections in a calm, supportive environment.
Learning & Safety
All learning takes place from the ground in partnership with one of our much loved horses.
Individual Support
Every session is tailored to meet the needs of each individual by one of our trained staff.
Back to the basics
We take participants right back to the basics of horsemanship skills.
Reflective Practice
Individuals interpret their own learning and are encouraged to reflect on the session.

There is a wealth of scientific research showing that working with horses has many benefits, including the ability to improve
a person's social and emotional functioning.

Caring for a horse has a significant impact on both physical
and mental wellbeing. Working closely with a horse can
reduce blood pressure and alleviate tension and anxiety.
Equine-Facilitated Activities

We take take our participants back to essential horsemanship-
skills where they begin by learning about basic grooming and
equipment. Participants are then encouraged to walk in
partnership with their horse in beautiful, relaxing countryside.
All with the support and guidance of a Karele Facilitator.

Grooming and tacking up their horse is the next exciting
step in their learning journey.
